Vision
One free, open, offline application that holds full parametric engineering, integrated design-to-manufacture and form-and-motion tools, and goes beyond them.
Today these are three separate worlds, each with its own tools. An engineer models a part in one program, exports it to another for machining, exports again to a third for a rendering, and loses parametric intent at every step. YontaCAD's vision is a single document where the same object can be a precise parametric solid, a sculpted mesh and a NURBS surface at once; where the toolpath, the simulation and the rendered image are views of one model, not exports of it.
The three worlds we unify
Engineering precision
Parametric B-rep, sheet metal, weldments, assemblies with motion, drawings with GD&T, standard parts, tolerance analysis.
Integrated workflow
CAD, CAM, CAE, a PCB bridge, rendering and data management in one window, from hobbyist to professional.
Form and motion
Mesh sculpting, NURBS surfacing, procedural node-based modelling, animation, physics simulation, production rendering, total scriptability.
Where we go beyond
- Hybrid kernel by design. B-rep solids, meshes and NURBS surfaces are peer objects in the same document and can reference each other parametrically.
- Procedural everywhere. A node graph can drive solids, sketches, patterns and assemblies, not only meshes. Every feature tree is also a node graph.
- Manufacturing-aware modelling. Design-for-manufacturing checks, cost estimation and toolpath preview run while you model.
- AI as a native collaborator. Built on the public Python API, with user-chosen models, local or remote. No lock-in, no required cloud.
- Simulation inside the model. Structural, thermal, electromagnetic and fluid solvers as first-class features, with results living on the geometry.
- Git-native collaboration without a cloud. Diff, branch and merge of CAD documents with any git host or none.
- Render and present from the same file. Physically based rendering, animation of assemblies, exploded views and turntables.
- Open to the ground. Open file format, open API, open plugin ecosystem, open roadmap, open finances. LGPL forever.
What we refuse
- Accounts, telemetry, feature gating, "pro" editions, ads.
- Cloud as a requirement for anything.
- Closing the file format, ever.
How we get there
The vision is the destination; the roadmap is the road. We earn the right to each new world by finishing the previous one: engineering precision first, because a CAD that cannot make a correct part is not a CAD; integration second; form and motion third, when the kernel, the document model and the plugin API are strong enough to carry it.
Measure of success
Not downloads. The day a student in Lahore, a machine shop in Konya and an animator in Jakarta open the same file and each finds their tool inside it.
